For the first time, children from the Child Rights Connect Children's Advisory Team, an initiative that empowers children as human rights defenders, addressed their message during the opening session of the Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC). Among the statements, Jorge, a young boy from Bolivia, said: "If we educate people to take better care of the environment, the environment will be better cared for." On 12 and 13 April, the WHO is organizing the first round of two public hearings under the guiding question: “What substantive elements do you think should be included in a new international instrument on pandemic preparedness and response?" The public input aims to support the work of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Body to draft and negotiate an international instrument to strengthen pandemic responses. The Parties to the Aarhus Convention and Parties to the Protocol on Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers (PRTRs) are meeting from 18 to 22 October 2021. Marking the 20th anniversary of the entry into force of the Aarhus Convention, this session will provide a multi-stakeholder platform "to discuss the challenges in promoting environmental democracy, digital transformation, and sustainable development."
