"The World Bank Group is a vital source of financial and technical assistance to developing countries around the world. It has set two goals to achieve by 2030: end extreme poverty by decreasing the percentage of people living on less than $1.25 a day to no more than 3%; and promote shared prosperity by fostering the income growth of the bottom 40% for every country. The World Bank Group comprises five institutions managed by their member countries. Established in 1944, the World Bank Group is headquartered in Washington, D.C. and has more than 10,000 employees in more than 120 offices worldwide.
The World Bank Group Geneva Office focuses on the following key areas of engagement: international trade, disaster risk management and climate change adaptation, labor and social protection, and health and nutrition. Geneva being a global hub for humanitarian, disaster risk reduction and peace-building coordination, WBG Geneva Office spearheads the WBG’s engagement in the humanitarian-development nexus agenda. It also maintains a watching brief in other significant Geneva policy areas where the WBG has an active role including migration, environment, water, fragile and conflict states, and human rights."
