Peter Maurer, President of the ICRC, winner of the Fondation pour Genève prize 2022 | 21 March 2022

The Foundation Board has decided to award the 2022 Prize to Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), for his exceptional contribution to Geneva's reputation.

During his ten years as President, Mr. Maurer has worked with strength and courage for the respect of international humanitarian law. With his teams, he has provided crucial assistance to millions of people affected by armed conflict, other situations of violence, and human distress. He has also internationalized the organization and increased and diversified its funding to strengthen its presence in protracted crises. 

Today, the ICRC is active in nearly 100 countries and has 18,000 staff members worldwide. The ICRC has been making our city shine for more than 150 years and is the perfect embodiment of its humanitarian tradition.

This 28th edition ceremony of the Prize will be held at Victoria Hall at 6:30 pm. It will also be broadcasted online on the Foundation's website, on www.letemps.ch and www.lemanbleu.ch, as well as on the tv channel Léman Bleu.
