The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its forum, which is being held from 8 to 12 April under the theme "Information and Communication Technologies for Sustainable Development Goals." Here, a journalist from Agence France Presse dictates his article during the 2001 Conference for Peace and National Unity in Afghanistan in Peshawar, Pakistan.

To mark International Day of Mine Awareness, GICHD is launching the exhibition "Life of Mine". The exhibition will be inaugurated at the Rotonde du Mont Blanc on April 4 from 13h30-14h30 and will travel to more than 20 countries. Louis Appia, 1818–1898: Humanitarian pioneer and co-founder of the Red Cross
This year marks the bicentennial of the birth of the war surgeon Louis Appia. Born in Hanau, he studied in Germany and practiced as a doctor in Geneva from 1849. He earned his place in history by issuing an appeal for help for the wounded of the war in Italy, on 13 May 1859, nine weeks before Henry Dunant.
