This week, we invited Guy Ryder, Director-General of the ILO, to choose an image on the occasion of the International Labour Conference to be held from 10 to 21 June 2019. “Since 1919, the International Labour Organization has been in the frontline bringing together governments, workers and employers to advance social justice and promote decent work.

In the run-up of World Environment Day 2019 on 5 June, the High-Level Dialogue "Beat Air Pollution: The Need for a Multi-Level Response", organized within the Geneva Environment Network framework, will take place at the International Environment House on Monday 3 June, from 12:00-13:30.

WMO 18^th World Meteorological Congress (Cg-18) will be held from 3 to 14 June 2019.

April 24, 2019 marked the first International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace. Almost to the day, in 1919, the Republic and Canton of Geneva announced to the people of Geneva that the Paris Peace Conference had designated Geneva as the seat of the League of Nations.

To announce the UNESCO conference, entitled "Protecting Cultural Property: International Conference on the 20th anniversary of the 1999 Second Protocol to the 1954 Hague Convention", a replica of Palmyra’s Triumphal Arch, destroyed in 2015, is being erected on Place des Nations.

The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its forum, which is being held from 8 to 12 April under the theme "Information and Communication Technologies for Sustainable Development Goals." To mark International Day of Mine Awareness, GICHD is launching the exhibition "Life of Mine". The exhibition will be inaugurated at the Rotonde du Mont Blanc on April 4 from 13h30-14h30 and will travel to more than 20 countries. On Monday 18 March, the ICRC, in collaboration with the Musée de l'Elysée and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), presents the screening and debate "Humanitarian principles in motion".

March 1, 2019, marks the 20th anniversary of the entry into force of the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention. 

The Association of Accredited Correspondents at the United Nations (ACANU) celebrates its 70th anniversary. As part of its celebrations, a photo exhibition retracing some of the great moments in the history of international relations is on display at the Palais des Nations until 28 February.

The EFTA Council meets on 5 February 2019 in Geneva, chaired this semester by Liechtenstein. Taken on 4 January 1960, this picture shows Gottlieb Gut, Swiss Ambassador, signing the EFTA Convention in Stockholm.

The conference entitled The Lost Decade in the Global War on Drugs will take place on 28 January 2019 at the Graduate Institute. The internationally recognized photojournalist and Magnum Photos member Jerôme Sessini signs this picture.
